Dear Dr. Noah Lot,

Should our referral practice still print brochures even though most of our information is on our website?

– Practice Manager of Specialty Veterinary Clinic

Dear Practice Manager,

In the days of fast-evolving, competitive online marketing, and with the ubiquity of mobile devices, we are frequently asked about whether printing a brochure for a veterinary practice is still worth the investment. The answer is simply, yes! Printed brochures remain an essential tool to showcase your practice and services. As a matter of fact, it should be used side by side with your website and digital strategies; they should complement each other.

Why do you still need a printed brochure?

  • Some people prefer to read information in a printed format (especially if your pet parents skew more in the 40+ age range) while others may favor online tools.
  • A printed brochure can be easily distributed during an office visit, at an event, by mail, and can be given to a primary care veterinarian to give to a pet parent upon referral.
  • A printed brochure is a great way to invite your clients to read more about your practice and services online and visit your social media platforms.
  • A printed brochure is designed to be retained and referred to anytime rather than having to search the web for information.

Although the volume has decreased over time, millions of brochures and marketing materials continue to be printed and distributed each year. And while you should “never judge a book by its cover,” your clients and prospects will. If they are handed a professionally-designed and well-written brochure, there is a greater chance they will keep it and interact with you – and that will hopefully be the beginning of a long-term and successful relationship.

Thanks,

Dr. Noah Lot
